Marine Facing 15 years, story from www.dailycaller.com

Are gun laws protecting the criminals or the law abiding citizens?  That is what this country as a whole needs to consider.  Conceal and carry laws are a state issue, leaving loop holes for Americans who protect this country.  Solders and private citizens are at risk of being sent to prison for exercising their right to carry a concealed weapon.  This is a topic that needs a clear decision, and fast!  In the last month, two seperate incidents in New York have placed two law abiding citizens in court over our state-to-state  conceal carry laws.  Both citizens have their conceal and carry license and now carry a weapon.  On one occasion in New York, Ryan was visiting the Empire State Building and asked the "officials" where to check in his gun because he wanted follow the orders of the "no guns" signs posted. Why is he facing charges for simply doing the right thing?
They were not trying to skirt the law, they were trying to abide by it.  Here's the story, you decide... @pistolspumps

Ryan Jerome was enjoying his first trip to New York City on business when the former Marine Corps gunner walked up to a security officer at the Empire State Building and asked where he should check his gun.
That was when Jerome’s nightmare began. The security officer called police and Jerome spent the next two days in jail.
The 28-year-old with no criminal history now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of three and a half years in prison. If convicted, his sentence could be as high as fifteen years.
Jerome has a valid concealed carry permit in Indiana and visited New York believing that it was legal to bring his firearm. He was traveling with $15,000 worth of jewelry that he planned to sell.
The online gun-law information Jerome read was inaccurate, however, and his late September arrest initiated what may become a protracted criminal saga. He hasn’t yet been indicted by a grand jury, but there may be little legal wiggle-room if he is.
“If he does get indicted, and they want to give him something less, then the legal minimum would be two years,” noted Mark Bederow, Jerome’s attorney. “They couldn’t even offer less if they wanted to.” (RELATED: The Daily Caller’s Guns and Gear section)
Jerome isn’t the first out-of-state visitor to volunteer that they had a gun, only to be put through the wringer. In December, Tennessee nurse Meredith Graves noticed a “no guns” sign at the World Trade Center site and asked where she could leave her weapon, only to face similar charges.  Also in December, Tea Party Patriots co-founder Mark Meckler was arrested after attempting to check a pistol — for which he has a California concealed carry permit — at a New York airport.
The law in New York has the potential to wreak havoc on the lives of unwitting and otherwise law-abiding visitors, Bederow explained to The Daily Caller.
“The law itself is clear,” he said, “if you knowingly possess a loaded firearm in New York, then you are technically guilty of a serious crime. The fact that somebody in another state has a valid concealed carry permit is, legally speaking, irrelevant in New York.”
But the recent spate of tourist arrests wasn’t what was intended when the law was passed, said Bederow. “Subjecting the toughest gun laws in the country — here in New York — to subject these people to them is just not a good use of discretion.”
“The law is not equipped to deal with these situations, and they happen all the time,” he added. “Here are people trying to be responsible.”
There is a significant degree of uncertainty regarding how the case will proceed. Right now, Bederow said he’s hoping that the district attorney will use discretion and recognize that his client “is not a criminal.”
“I’ve been a law-abiding citizen my entire life, and for something like this to come down, it rips me apart,” Jerome told the New York Post. “It’s like taking a good dog and scolding him for something he didn’t do.”

Women & Guns, Politics and the Culture of Firearms in America

Regardless of what side of the aisle you're on when it comes to guns, gun control or politics, Women & Guns, written by Deborah Homsher, is a must read!  She spent years gathering facts, opinions and interviews from all over the spectrum regarding guns and women.  From the anti gun advocates, to the NRA spokeswoman, Tanya Metaksa, this book shares what women think and why they think the way they do on a particular issue.  The reason we felt the need to pass this along, as a right to carry advocate, is because you really need to know who is out there fighting for gun control and why they feel that way.  Here's an interesting fact to pass along from the book:  in 2001, 43% of households with children have a gun somewhere in home.  This is why it's so important for women to get involved on a national, regional and local level.  Women, in general, are the ones caring for the children in the home and if we just ignore the fact that this weapon is in our house and do not have the knowledge of its use or safety, how can we educate our children?

Once you get through the statistics, this book covers all aspects of where women and guns are found.  From the cities on edge, the fields near home, to the competitiveness of the sport, to the homegrown rebellion;  this is a great resource to learn more about where guns can be found and why it's a growing trend.  We hope you enjoy the book!  Remember, knowledge is power!

Wanenmacher Tulsa Arms Show

What an exciting event!  So glad we were able to be a part of it.  Pistols and Pumps was there and met some of the nicest people in the industry as well as gun enthusiasts.  Our 2nd amendment right is ALIVE and well in Tulsa, OK.  We wanted to share some of the links we think you should check out.  To find one of the best shotguns in the country, made right here in the USA, New Britian CT is http://www.connecticutshotguns.com/ .  Wow-these are display and legacy pieces for any serious collector.  Tell Nelson and Lou we sent you.  Also if you're a gun shop owner or a serious collector, you need more room to display...the answer is http://www.storemoreguns.com/ .  The folks from Gun Storage Solutions, out of Cookeville, IL., have created your answer.  Another fine USA made product and the ultimate in the KISS rule.  Then there were the girls...yes the TACGIRLS, http://www.gunshowstoday.com/ girls. The crazy one that interviewed us was the http://www.flythecoop.tv/ girl!  All worth your time to check out!

Now on to the gun enthusiasts...we are never too busy to talk to our end user, the consumer.  You are why we are all in business.  Sometimes, business owners forget about that and we shouldn't.  We had a lady that had just gotten her CCW permit and was looking for her first gun.  The booth that she DID NOT purchase from, treated her like they were too busy to even deal with her, not to mention RUDE because she was asking too many questions.  Big mistake when there are over 8 and 1/2 miles of tables to preview...Knowledge is power, as we say, and the only stupid question is the one never asked. Our advice is to answer that question because we are always learning.  If you have the knowledge, share it!  You are creating another informed consumer that loves our 2nd Amendment Right!

Another exciting part of the show is getting to see exactly who are our customers.  Some great customers of www.pistolsandpumps.com/gear !  Daughters and granddaughters with their parents and grandparents, fiances with their men who just taught them to shoot and wonderful husbands picking up some christmas gifts.  Thank you for coming and seeing us and we are grateful for the opportunity to be out there with you.    We'll be back at Wanenmacher Tulsa Arms Show in the spring, come see us.
